Aladdin reAnimation: Keyframes

Description

Looky, it's so pretty. :D
I'd seen a few animations people have made based on existing animations, and I thought it looked like fun. I thought I'd try re-animating a little bit from an Aladdin episode. ...and I don't think I have a favorite scene... so I just kind of looked around, and thought it would be neat to draw Mozenrath turning his head (actually, if I finish this, it involves three head turns, which I didn't really notice until after I choose that part).
(I also picked another little bit to re-animate, which goes with this but is a little later on in the episode - if I still want to draw more after I finish this part. And if I still think it's fun after both of those, I'll probably look for a part to animate from the first movie.)
I should have done this years ago (...if I had a way to get screenshots and if I had a good way to back-light papers). Now maybe I'll find out whether or not I could actually stand being an animator. Not that I'll ever get the chance anyhow. But, I think I'd wanted to be an animator since I was quite young. (I really should've taken that chance of applying to go to an art college... Though, even then, a lot of animated movies nowadays are computer animated, and I've never liked computer animation.)

hmm... I'll probably replace the file for this deviation as I draw more frames. Right now I'm mostly done with the fourth frame. Then there's Aladdin with his head turned, and then... Aladdin still with his head turned, then it's back to Mozenrath looking toward Aladdin, then Mozenrath looking surprised, then Mozenrath with his head turned, and then the last one, where Mozenrath still has his head turned. ...maybe I should cut out the 'still with his head turned' ones... I'll have to think about it. The second head turned ones are probably for settling down from the movement, in which case, I should probably not have both on my list of key frames... I donno.

edit 1: I added a fifth frame (and slightly modified the two before it). There should be three more to go. (and then I'll need to also add in Xerxes, and clean up some of the lines)
edit 2: Added the sixth frame. I need to make a few minor adjustments to the fifth and sixth ones later, though (I didn't finish the back seam on Aladdin's hood, and I'll most likely adjust a few lines for the sixth, including possibly changing the placement of Mozenrath's gauntleted arm). Also, I ended up going with the way Disney drew Mozenrath's eyes - for now at least. I might go back and change their eyes to suit my tastes later. Characters just look better without drawing the entire outline for lips and eyelids. And what's up with not drawing Mozenrath's irises? They drew Jafar's irises. But... I kind of liked how this particular screenshot looked, so I ended up trying to draw whatever it was that I liked about it. (Oh, by the way, I was kind of lucky to start out with the most zoomed out shot first. If I'd started with the shot of Aladdin, I would have drawn it smaller (and then it would've been hard to get the details for the zoomed out shot of Mozenrath).
edit 3: Slightly modified frame 3 by changing two or three lines near the top of the image (first frame of Aladdin), modified frame 5 a little by going over some of the lines again and getting them to match up better (Aladdin turned away), and there’s actually very, very little of Mozenrath in the 6th frame (first close-up of Mozenrath) that I didn’t redraw (I think a small section of the gold/bronze bordering on his shoulderplate thing wasn’t modified). I didn’t really realize I had changed that much until I compared the old and new scans of that frame.
I also added the 7th and 8th frames, which are the last two that I had picked out as key frames. I’ll have to add Xerxes into this later. He’s... more complicated. I think I had mainly drawn Abu just because I didn’t know how to separate him from Aladdin.

I might make a new deviation for other updates to this. I don’t know yet. I was updating this deviation as I finished key frames, but now I’m done with those (well, unless I finish drawing Mozenrath‘s eyes in the second frame. Kind of forgot about that. And maybe modify his mouth a little in the last frame).
Hmm... I’d thought of a kind of title for the scene (well, tiny part of the scene) after choosing it, but I might wait and use that title for the finished deviation. I’d also labeled the three shots: ‘What?!’, ‘Uh-oh.’, and ‘There! There!’ (though, two of them are what was said).

edit 4: I ended up editing all eight frames after finding a better reference (I found some Russian HD episodes on youtube. They're so clear, I can see the brush strokes and textures in the bg. Though, it's still really unclear about where outlines are in dark areas, like the lines on his belt). So, I adjusted a few things that I could see better, and I darkened all the lines. ...I darkened them so much, that sunlight makes them sparkle. ...It probably would've scanned better without doing that.
