I just moved to another house.

About a year ago, my dad had bought a house before saling the one we were living in. He put up the old house for sale, but it didn't seem like people were interested in buying it. After awhile, he ended up with both houses for sale, and... we kind'a got offers for both a day or two apart. So, in the process of selling both houses, and us either not seeing the perfect house (at least that we both agreed on) or otherwise having issues with buying houses we decided on, he ended up buying the next thing that came on market. ...without even inspecting it first. :/

It seems to need a bit of work, and I'd really like to update the electric (super old house, with an old fuse box) and replace the gas stove with an electric one, but it's feeling oddly like home already. (maybe it's just because all my furniture's here)

Here's a rough sketch I made before we closed on it, based on some photos I took and the room dimensions on the listings (some details are off, but it's close):

I want to put wall-to-wall bookcases in my bedroom (the 12'x13' one in the front corner), if I can figure out how to do it. I'd have to have the bookcase closest to the door be just 4" deep, though, since the door is 4" from the wall. It'd be cool, though, since I could put corkboard on the backing and use it for story planning purposes and the such, and could also use it to display movies or other small items.
My computer's in the small study, next to the boxed-in front porch (the study is the room on the bottom of the sketch, between the dining room and the outer door (it has a window left over from an earlier time). I thought it would seem kind'a cramped, as I like large, spacious stuff, but... it's actually not too bad (except that the wood floor seems terribly uneven).
There's tons of large windows all around the house. I realized just a few minutes ago that the view from the dining room actually kind'a reminds me of how my college's library was. When I was going to college, I'd often get a pumpkin latte from the Java City place inside the library and go up to the second floor, where they had a room/hallway area that bridged two buildings. It was a quiet place with comfy seats and large windows where you could look at the scenery from above. The view from this house's dining room kind'a reminds me of it. I'm pondering about pushing two dinning room tables together and putting the chairs just on the far side, facing the windows. It'd make a nice study area.
