So... Since the site's going to switch to Eclipse soon, I downloaded a new browser today and transferred my website favorites, so that I can still use the site after the change. Looks like Eclipse works on the new browser... (and hopefully I'll like this browser.) But when I saw a comment about Sta.Sh Writer not being in Eclipse, I had to check for myself.
...It appears that dA is deleting all of its text editors...? I can't start a new Sta.Sh Writer draft, I can't edit lit deviations with the plain text editor, and when I try clicking to write a new literature deviation, it just takes me to a blank screen and won't let me format the text (edit: Okay, it will let me bold or italicize text if I highlight it first). (If you've noticed any flashes of jibberish being submitted, that's from me trying to figure it out.) ...I hope I'll still be able to do stuff with all the drafts I have in Sta.Sh after the forced site change.
Recently Fanfiction.net has had some weird ads, where sometimes there'd be ads randomly inserted within chapters of a fic (and also in other parts of that site). I was thinking that if that site were to get annoying enough, maybe I'd just submit my fics to dA instead for awhile. But now... I apparently won't be able to upload fics here after the next few days?
I hope they'll fix the literature issue. :/ When I tried doing some searching, it looks like they haven't done anything new with literature since February of last year—I found a journal entry where they mention beginning to work on it. ...And that's it. Why would dA move permanently to Eclipse before it even has full functionality?! Why even have Eclipse in the first place? It would've been so much easier and better if they had modified the existing site's code instead of starting over from scratch and trying to remember what's needed. They'd built up all these features over years and years, and now they're wiping it all out. (And why does it look like they copied and pasted a bunch of stuff from Facebook?) I could probably get used to the odd 200% zoom thing going on with Eclipse that kinda makes my eyes hurt, but how can I get used to trying to submit literature with a blank page that won't even accept html tags?
(a few minutes later edit: ) Hmm... maybe if I create an image of specific things, like page dividers, then I could insert the images into the literature to make up for having no way of adding it the easy way... (there is a little thing that allows adding images).
